Heya, 💀
We need to talk about the cultural savant Julia Fox is.
A self-made pop culture celebrity and now icon, Julia Fox entered our zeitgeist early ‘22 via a staged relationship with Kanye West in his efforts to annoy the fuck out of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. What felt and looked like headline noise actually was just the start of the Julia Foxverse.
If you’ve slept on her, let me give you the gist. Julia Fox is an Italian-American actress and model based out of New York, who had a debut role in Adam Sandler’s 2019 film Uncut Gems where she did well enough to be nominated as a Breakthrough Actor at the Gotham Awards. In 2015, prior to her Hollywood moment, she posed for Playboy. In 2017 she hosted an art exhibit of her own blood on silk called "R.I.P. Julia Fox.” So, yes, she is the perfect type of crazy to be seen with Ye.
During her very short relationship-stunt, Fox truly laid down the tracks to her stardom. She proved herself an interesting person when she went on the Call Her Daddy podcast to talk about her wild upbringing, the start of her dominatrix career, and her early years as a muse. The sound bites alone sent the world into a tizzy and made her meme royalty. While being a meme is usually a bad thing, Fox owned it.

Knowing that she needed to ride the volatility, Fox was soon seen everywhere. With her Avant Apocalypse aesthetic, a stark difference from the rising IT girl look, Fox stole the spotlight at every major fashion, art, and music event. Her deconstructed outfits were worn the "wrong" way yet were the Y2K grunge the internet didn’t know it needed. While just being fashionable doesn’t usually skyrocket you to stardom, Fox made sure to do her job which was just to “be there” with a tinge of controversy.
For me, though, it was her TikTok that really made her more than a meme. Fox’s account has just under 1M followers and she spits mad game and philosophy on misogyny, politics, religion, and motherhood while applying her signature ‘Thumbprint’ eyeliner, soaking in a bubble bath, or lounging naked in her closet. And what she has to say is profound in her own unhinged way. This little glimpse into her mind is what is setting her apart from other wannabe celebs and is driving her cult following.
With style, grace, and black smudged eyeliner, we are all now living in Julia Fox’s universe.
