Happy Pride month and happy questionable LGBTQIA+ advertisements! Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley said it best:
“Dear Corporations,
Thank you for your Pride tweets, packaging and merch.
Now how are you applying pressure to oppose hateful anti trans bills in state legislatures across the country?”
With rainbow logos adorning our feeds, here are three ways brands fail Pride:
Lacking truth: BMW’s USA logo vs the Middle East logo on Twitter
Opportunistic: NFL declares it is gay after player Carl Nassib comes out
Rainbow capitalism: Target’s truly ugly rainbow blazer fit
Regardless of what brands put out there during Pride month (& Women's & Black History month), I believe all visibility for the cause is good.
